I just returned from a quick trip to Cheyenne on a snowy Saturday morning to help judge the Wyoming High School Mock Trial Competition. What a wonderful experience to work with one of the Laramie County district court judges to stage and score the trial of a wrongful death case. The students had the chance to think critically about the facts of the case and how to present them in the most compelling way for the party whom they represented.

The students experienced what being an advocate feels like while also seeing the benefit of a clear and fair process. I was inspired by the students' dedication and skill as well as that of my fellow Wyoming Bar members who helped put on the competition.

We were all part of reaffirming the importance of the rule of law - a clear set of rules that allow an examination of evidence in a fair and impartial manner. We were a critical part - no matter how small - of demonstrating the stability and integrity of the American justice system now and for the future.
